Paul Croutch was a homeless man, who in August of 2005, was brutally beaten in Moss Park. Follow the link for details: http://www.torontolife.com/features/lonely-death-paul-croutch/
This beating led to Paul's subsequent death and stands as a reminder to us all of the dangers that exist for a vulnerable and often forgotten segment of Toronto's population.
As Paul was a member at the Good Neighbours' Club, and a client of many other agencies in the downtown core, we would like to honour his life and and death. We would like to ensure that his experience, and that of men like him, is not forgotten.
The Paul Croutch Memorial
The memorial ceremonies will run from 11am to 11:30am. We will honour Paul Croutch and those members of the Good Neighbours' Club who have died in the last year.
But, this is not entirely a solemn event...
We would also like to celebrate the work that is being done in Toronto to assist the homeless. We have within our power as a society to provide safety, dignity and community to those living on the streets one person at a time.
Join us to celebrate our strength as a community engaged in a common purpose to affect change.
Food and Tours
We will be serving a barbeque lunch of hamburgers, hotdogs and delicious salads at 12pm.
We will also be offering throughout the day tours of our facilities to showcase the work that we do in our community and to encourage our neighbours to get involved with us in what who hope can be a mutually lasting and satisfying relationship.
