Volunteering is a wonderful way to help the Good Neighbours' Club, while giving back to the community and finding meaning in our everyday lives.

We often have volunteer opportunities available in the club. Check back often for new opportunities.

Current Opportunities

 

1. Drivers

 

We are badly in need of drivers for our van to do pickups and to take our members to appointments. The commitment is up to you, but we need to cover Monday to Friday from 8am to 1pm.

Time Commitment: Minimum of 5 hours per week

 

2. Kitchen Help

Our kitchen and dining area are always busy - we serve over 200 meals a day! Volunteers help with preparing and serving meals, as well as keeping the kitchen and dining area clean.

Time Commitment: Minimum 3 hours per week

 

3. Seniors in Cyberspace-

Want to give back to the community by sharing your computer and internet expertise? Join our Seniors in Cyberspace Program and become an internet coach!

 

 4. Day of the Homeless

The Day of the Homeless will be held on August 31 from 10am-2pm at 170 Jarvis Street. Last year, we initiated this event in response to the tragic death of Paul Croutch, a Good Neighbours' Club member who was beaten to death in Moss Park in 2005.

This year, we would like to focus on giving this vulnerable and often forgotten segment of Toronto's population a voice. Through our photography exhibit Expressions of Hope and Despair, attendees will experience the varying lives of these men. We will be displaying works both of and by our members, including portraits by well-known photojournalist Rita Leistner. We are looking for volunteers to digitally correct photographs. 5. Special Events

Want to help put together a great party? The Good Neighbours' Club will be holding fund-raising events in both May and November.

We need volunteers to help with:

  • Event Planning
  • Soliciting silent auction donations
  • Promoting the event (posters, letters, media)

Event Day

  • Decorating and setting up the venue
  • Photographing the celebrations
  • Collecting tickets

 Time Commitment: Variable, depending on role
