Toronto Challenge 2010! New year, new runners, new goals!
Welcome to the 2010 Toronto Challenge team!
Sunday June 13th, 2010 at Metro Hall, 55 John Street
Race begins at 9:30am sharp!
Click here to pledge a runner/walker for the Toronto Challenge.
If you’ve not yet joined, it’s easy to do:
FIRST, register...
Visit this website - http://www.events.runningroom.com/site/?raceId=5147 - and sign up as a Good Neighbours’ Club team participant.
Or print up and fill out a paper application and either mail it or drop it off at Metro Hall, 55 John Street, or bring it to the Good Neighbours' Club and we'll make sure you'll get registered!
You can join as a Monster Mortgage Runner or a Nissan Foundation Walker, or as a family of walkers/runners!
SECOND, decide whether you would like to be a TEAM LEADER or a RUNNER/WALKER.
As a TEAM LEADER, you can assemble a team of five to ten runners who you motivate to raise the most money possible as a team for the Good Neighbours’ Club.
As a RUNNER/WALKER, you can attempt to break last year’s independent running goal of $1960! I have a feeling that this year a couple of folks are going to blow right by this benchmark.
Email our Toronto Challenge chair Helen Hawkins to let her know of your registration and whether you’ve chosen to be a TEAM LEADER or a LONE WOLF – helenhawkins@sympatico.ca. And, don’t worry. You can always change your designation if you all of a sudden find yourself with a team itching to run. Just let Helen know of any changes.
THIRD, make your website!
The Good Neighbours’ Club is registered with Canadahelps. Surf on over to their website – www.canadahelps.org – and click on How To Give> GivingPages. Here you can create your giving page.
To set up a Giving Page
- Go to CandaHelps Giving Pages. Click on the 'Create a Giving Page" button on the right hand side.
- Click the "Register with CanadaHelps" button on the right hand side under "New Giving Page Users"
- Fill out the required contact information. Write down your username and password!
- Click on 'Create a Giving Page'
- Fill out the information required. You can always go back and change things later, i.e. add a photo or change your goal amount, if you wish.
- When you click continue it will ask you to add a charity - you can simply type in Good Neighbours' Club and press enter and it should come up.
- Paste
it
on your Facebook and your Twitter and email it out to your friends,
family
and co-workers and ask them to support you!
If you’re having problems, feel free to give Kelly a call and she’ll walk you through – 416-366-5377 ext. 221.
If you’re a TEAM LEADER, you can create one page for your team, or have them raise money on their own for some in-team competition! We can add it all together at the end.
Through Canadahelps, you can easily track your online donations and it makes it much easier for Great Aunt Betty in Ireland and Uncle Vincent in Jamaica to support your run/walk.
FOURTH, attend our Toronto Challenge Kick-Off meeting!
At this meeting and those leading up to the run/walk itself, you will receive important information about the Good Neighbours’ Club and what we do, so can share this with your team and your supporters.
More than just a fundraiser, we want to raise awareness of the Good Neighbours’ Club in Toronto. Our guys are the forgotten no more!
We’ll also supply you with some great strategies on how to raise money for the club.
Dates will be posted shortly. Keep checking back. If you've registered with Helen, she will email you the dates as well.
FIFTH, tell everyone you know about the Good Neighbours’ Club and the wonderful things we do here for older homeless and street-involved men in downtown Toronto!
Collect pledges by secure credit card on Canadahelps. Or print and use a pledge form to collect cash and cheques. Cheques should be made payable to The Good Neighbours' Club.
Check on the Good Neighbours' Club website daily to see how you fare against the competition.
AND LAST, break some records!
Throw on your red t-shirt (any red t-shirt will do) and come run/walk for the club.
You may not be the type to break the record for the fastest runner on the course (like me!); you may well be in the running for slowest runner (like me!), but I bet you can last year’s $1960 single runner record (that was me!).
And make the new record for best team score!
Oh, and HAVE FUN!
THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US - MEMBERS, STAFF, VOLUNTEERS – FOR YOUR EFFORTS ON OUR BEHALF!
